Michael D. Mauney founded The Manhood Institute in response to a deep calling: to see men fully alive in their God-given purpose—spiritually grounded, emotionally whole, and walking in integrity.
After witnessing too many men drift through life without direction or support, Michael committed his life to helping others grow through faith, mentorship, and truth. His personal journey revealed the importance of brotherhood, accountability, and safe spaces for transformation.
He is the author of The Christian Manhood Pledge, The Christian Womanhood Pledge, and The Journey to Christian Manhood: A Pledge for Boys and Young Men—resources that reflect his mission to raise up many voices, not just one.
Through The Manhood Institute, Michael offers men the tools, community, and encouragement they need to live with courage, purpose, and spiritual strength.
Jimmy Belton – Senior Advisor
Jimmy Belton brings over four decades of professional, community, and family leadership to The Manhood Institute. Recently retired after 41 years of service in the federal government, he developed deep expertise in financial analysis, project management, negotiation, and team building. A graduate of North Carolina A&T State University with a B.S. in Business Administration (Marketing concentration), Jimmy also earned a Project Management certification from Georgetown University. Beyond his professional career, Jimmy’s life reflects faith, commitment, and service. He has been married for 41 years, is the proud father of three adult children, and enjoys the blessing of three grandchildren. His personal experiences as a husband and father give him the emotional stability and perspective to inspire men to pursue healthy, purpose-filled lives. Jimmy has been a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Highland Park for over 40 years, serving faithfully on the usher board. He is also active in civic and educational organizations, including Blacks In Government (BIG) since 2006, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the School of Business at Bowie State University. Additionally, he supports the mission of IOTA PHI LAMBDA Sorority, Inc. (Zeta Mu Chapter) as a member of Men of IOTA since 2021. Through his role as Senior Advisor at The Manhood Institute, Jimmy seeks to help men embrace optimism about their long-term goals, strengthen their family and community relationships, and live out their fullest potential with integrity and faith.
